Advocating for Inclusion and Supporting Families: My Journey as a Best Buddies Champion

My passion for working with families with dependents who have intellectual and developmental disabilities stems from both personal and professional experiences. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of advocating for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and supporting families in securing their futures. Too often, fear or misunderstanding creates barriers for those with IDDs, but these individuals deserve the same opportunities as anyone else—whether in forming relationships, building careers, or living independently. If accommodations are needed to make this a reality, it’s our responsibility as the greater general population to create an inclusive and accessible environment.

This commitment to inclusivity is why I’m honored to lead a firm that focuses on special needs planning for families. We help ensure that the financial and legal future of families with dependents who have IDDs are secure and that their government benefits remain protected. Our firm also proudly participates in World Down Syndrome Day with Bitty & Beau’s Coffee and other local businesses annually. This celebration reminds us all that inclusion starts with community and that we each play a role in making sure everyone feels welcomed and valued. These experiences continually reinforce the importance of the work we do for families navigating life with a loved one who has IDD.

This is why I’m absolutely thrilled to be a Best Buddies Champion for Best Buddies North East Florida. Having been involved with this organization from a young age, I deeply connect with their mission of fostering meaningful friendships, providing employment opportunities, and developing leadership skills for individuals with IDD. I’m committed to raising both awareness and funds for this transformative cause and invite you to support me in this endeavor.

Supporting Best Buddies and helping special needs families is at the heart of what we do. Whether through life planning services that secure the future for your loved ones with IDD or advocating for inclusion in our community, we’re here to assist families in meaningful ways.
